1. Position Summary - Basic Job Function:

Assisting the Assistant Chief/Chief Engineer in all aspects of the department and ensure the smooth operation on the Engineering department.

Responsible to examine Repair, maintain and alter buildings, retaining walls and other brick or stone edifices. •Mix mortar, lay bricks and stones or concrete sidewalks and make and repair steps. •Patch and replace brick or stonework chimneys. •Install and repair tile floors or walls. •Read blueprints and plaster ceilings or walls guest room and public area floor and wall tiles to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration.

Responsible for identifying, extracting and inputting all maintenance work in the system and carrying out each task effectively and efficiently.

Ensuring all areas are maintained to the high standard expected by our guests.

To prioritize incoming work with safety and our guests comfort being attended to first.

2. Critical Tasks - Major Duties and Responsibilities:

- Demonstrate initiative at all times.

- Prioritize work schedules in accordance to guest needs.

- Produce own work in accordance with the quality guidelines.

- Able to Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers.

- Able to mix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades.

- Complete all work orders as required in a timely fashion.

- All Planned Maintenance Work Orders are to be taken from the System daily as necessary; they will be carried out effectively and efficiently; and signed off on completion.

- Room occupancies are to be checked to enable maximum coverage of jobs

- Ensure that adequate protection is in place whilst carrying out all works, leaving areas clean and tidy on task completion.

- All stock areas will be maintained in a systematic and tidy condition at all times; new stock stored as required in the correct location; and adequate notice given to Ass C/E for re-ordering purposes.

- To carry out other duties and tasks assigned by the Assistant C/E or C/E in accordance with the business.

- Assist other engineers as and when required.

- Assist or direct contractors as required.

- Carry out project related works as and when necessary.

- As and when applicable, train apprentice(s) as per Ass C/E requirements.

- Demonstrate initiative at all times.

- Prioritize work schedules in accordance to guest needs.

- Produce own work in accordance with the quality guidelines.

- Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.

- Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.

- Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible.

Safety and Security

- Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.

- Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.

- Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

- Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.

- Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.

- Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.

- Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.

- Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Physical Tasks

- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.

- Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.

- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.

3. Other Responsibilities :

- Be at all times an ambassador of the Sheraton philosophy of friendliness in order to establish a professional contact of yourself and all employees of the departments with all our guests. - Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities, as and when required by your manager. Assist in all areas outside of above, as and when needed and/or requested.

5. Preferred Qualifications:

Must maintain at all times a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Sheraton Brand and Marriott International standards.

High school diploma in Engineering

At least 3-5 year of related work experience

6. Confidentially & Record Maintenance:

Ensuring all records are confidentially and accurately maintained.

Limiting the number of permitted to access the records.

Ensuring that no record leaves the Department.

7. Personal Hygiene:

Make certain that you have a well-groomed, well-dressed and clean appearance. Adhere, at all times, to Sheraton and Marriott grooming standards. In the hotel industry, it is particularly important to observe a high standard of personal hygiene, as many of us are in direct or indirect contact with food and/or guests. You may not smoke whilst you are on duty or in any areas where smoking is prohibited.

8. Financial Performance:

Seek opportunities for cost savings. Ensure accurate cost charges for proper budget. Ensure that all required signatures are obtained prior to payments. Be aware of any activities/ events operating within the hotel in order to promote and maximise sales.

9. Employee Satisfaction:

Only use staff entrance to enter and leave the Hotel premises. Sign in/out, using your hotel ID card, and adhere to instructions of security personnel while doing so. Assist other departments when required. Responsible for a clean and tidy working area.

10. The Job & Local Law : Full adherence to UAE local laws and procedures. Be aware of all local Health, Safety & Fire regulations and to abide by their terms. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene at all times. Demonstrate proper and safe usage of all equipment. Care in service to avoid accidents. Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
