Job Summary :
Administers planned and quality nursing care in Pediatric Ward and HDU in a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and personnel
Key Accountabilities :
- Provides direct care and related duties in the pediatric unit and maintains current knowledge of critical care nursing practice and standards.
- Demonstrate competencies in performing nursing care such as oxygen administration through Opti-flow, nebulization and wound care.
- Responsible for monitoring the changes in health condition through (pediatric early warning sign chart).
- Assists the pediatrician in clinical rounds as well as documents the care in the medical records.
- Assists the pediatrician in specific procedures done at the bedside such as lumbar puncture / tapping and central line insertion.
- Provides age and culturally-appropriate nursing care to all pre and postoperative surgical patients.
- Ensure that parents are oriented and giving education on falls precautions and appropriate preventive measures to reduce the risk of falls.
- Demonstrate competencies in pain management through appropriate tools and standards.
- Competence in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Advanced Life Support and participates as a member of the Code Blue team hospital-wide.
- Plans, implements and evaluates care given to assigned patients in an effective and organized manner.
- Predominant role in medication preparation, administration, documentation and monitoring of patients for any adverse reactions.
- Demonstrate competencies in intravenous cannulation and intravenous fluid administration,
blood transfusion and blood collection.
- Performs competency in high-alert medications, storage and administration as per the policy.
- Responsible for maintaining crash carts and critical equipment as per the hospital protocol.
- Meets or exceeds all continuing education requirements for maintaining licensure to practice nursing in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Responsible for the supervision of practical nurses and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams as required.
- Perform the task assigned by the head nurse / shift in charge and report adverse events to the head nurse / nursing supervisor.
- Demonstrate competency in prioritizing in health education and maintaining patient's records.
- Follows the reporting mechanisms / chain of command in the nursing services department. All patient care issues shall be correctly and promptly reported.
- Provides for the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and their families.
- Performs a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique
- Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of medication including high alert medication and narcotics as per the hospital policy.
- Complies with established Departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient's records and ensures that patient's rights and responsibilities are communicated appropriately and maintains patient's safety and privacy.
- Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actively involved in continuing education provided by the Nursing Education Department.
- Act as a patient advocate and provide health education and support to patients and families.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current licensed in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi / Al Ain UAE.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience or undergone training in relevant clinical area.
- BLS provider, ACLS provider, ATLS / TNCC preferable
- Good English- spoken & written.
- Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
