Position Overview:
The Islamic Education teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the educational teaching plan according to the school’s requirements and in compliance with the KHDA’s Islamic Education guideline for schools. They create an educational atmosphere where students are granted the opportunity to fulfill their potential of becoming knowledgeable regarding the Islamic faith, providing knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their personalities and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate regarding the content, and skilled at introducing and implementing Islamic Education in an engaging, pedagogically sound manner.





The ideal candidate has demonstrated his/her expertise in managing and organizing a classroom, while making learning an easy and meaningful process. The goal is to cultivate the students’ interest in the Islamic subject and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development.

Instructional Responsibilities:

1. Promote a positive Islamic ethos and proper student behavior according to guidelines provided by the ASD Curriculum framework under the overall guidance of the MOE
2. Have the ability to encourage and inspire the students to love the Quran and to learn more about Islamic Education and Sunnah
3. Organize class decorations and layout to cultivate and promote love for Islam and Islamic values within students
4. Organize the Prayer (Salat) for the students in the school facility
5. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding their learning
6. Maintain proficiency in school and subject related technologies as appropriate to enhance and deliver instruction
7.





Provide a flexible classroom environment that is conducive to learning and supports a student centered learning environment
8. Effectively apply the most up-to-date, research-based strategies to address the needs of diverse learners in a culture of transition and mobility
9. Ensure that all students experience appropriate levels of challenge at all times
10. Use the student assessment process to improve learning and teaching
11. Maintain accurate up-to-date records of student progress and attendance
12. Engage parents and students in the learning process through frequent, meaningful and timely communication about student progress
13. Contribute to department/team planning, budgeting and other operational activities as required
14.





Skillfully and positively contribute to the curriculum development and monitoring processes
15. Think systematically, reflect on, and learn from practice and be willing to collaborate with others to learn as a professional
16. Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom which extend learning experiences and meet the needs of students (advising, organizing field trips, sponsorship of clubs, events, community service projects, etc.)
17. Supervise students as required by the immediate supervisor
18. Actively support student’s social emotional learning and well-being personally and by contributing and participating in appropriate activities and programs as required
19. Participate in the planning,





implementation and execution of successful student programs such as Advisory and Week Without Walls, including chaperoning and leading related trips and activities

Schoolwide Responsibilities:

1. Engage with the administration in a committed effort to continue to grow as an educator
2. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures
3. Model ASD Values in interactions with the school community
4. Represent the skills and attitudes of global citizenship, antiracism and intercultural sensitivity and proactivity
5. Take on other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university
2. A valid teaching certificate/license in Islamic Education
3. A minimum of two years, current,





full-time related teaching experience with demonstrated expertise in subject matter
4. Must have excellent command of both English and Arabic
5. Prior experience in teaching in a bilingual English/Arabic classroom setting
6. Prior experience teaching students at the Middle School levels

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience teaching in an international/overseas school setting
2. Prior experience in teaching with the CS Social Studies Framework or teaching through an inquiry framework

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Experience with standards based grading
2. Participation in current and relevant professional growth activities
3. Demonstrate focused instruction and assessment of student learning
4. Be open-minded,





eager and willing to collaborate in a team environment in order to plan and prepare for effective instruction within the classroom
5. Demonstrate commitment to personal continuous professional growth and development
6. Develop and maintain effective working relationships
7. Represent ASD with students, parents, colleagues, and broader school community in a professional manner

Terms of Employment:
General working hours are from 7:45 am - 3:45 pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:45 am - 12:45 pm (on site) & 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm (remote/flexible) on Fridays. In some cases, flexibility with work hours is requested to meet the needs of the role.
