Job Description:

Registered Nurse - OPD will:

- Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.

- Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings
- Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient's health or situation.
- Understand and analyze the assessment information and data
- Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues






- Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient's planned care
- Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team
- Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities
- Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice
- Employ strategies to promote patients' health and a safe environment.
- Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams
- Perform essential life support (BLS
- Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions
- Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions
- Provide wound care management
- Ensure that all equipment used in the clinical areas is safe to use and all in working order. Reports any defaults to the Nurse In-Charge and Biomedical Department appropriately






- Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed
- Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge
- Arranges for diagnostic and therapeutic service as ordered.
- Follows the ten-medication administration protocol and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Assembles patient chart and attached required forms.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Consults physician when necessary.
- Schedules appointment and arranges for patient transportation in other department for care of services.
- Ensure that the equipment is clean and in good working condition prior to use.
- Maintains controlled and narcotic drugs.
- Completes unit forms and registers.






- Gathers required statistics and prepares reports as required.
- Observes proper technique in the performance of all duties.
- Overall supervision of the OPD activities.
- Staffing of the OPD and deputing the staff to other areas when required.
- Monitoring the up keeping of the consultation rooms, supervising the completion of checklists.
- Accountable for the equipment and medications used in the OPD
- Record TPR and BP of the OPD patients
- Assist the doctor/consultant in examining the patient and other procedures.
- Help in shifting of the patients.
- To keep sufficient stock of sterile dressings like gauze piece, pads, and dressing packs etc.
- See to the comfort of the patient.
- Maintain the OPD records.






- Remind the patient for his /her next visit to the consultant.
- To co-ordinate and work for the smooth functioning of the hospital
- Promptly attend to emergency cases as and when the patient arrives

Qualifications:

- Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.
- Manage their own professional revalidation
- Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
- Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
