Job Summary
We are seeking a Safety Engineer focusing on Drilling & Workover Operations to join the This Company Loss Prevention organization (LP), which is the corporate safety organization within This Company. We provide both day-to-day infield occupational and process safety support to This Company operations, as well as centralized technical support and consulting functions. Our field offices are located in:
1. Abqaiq
2. Riyadh
3. Ras Tanura
4. Dhahran
5. Udhailiyah
6. Jeddah (including Yanbu and Jazan)
7. Tanajib
Through these offices, LP provides its services to all This Company facilities and departments that are located throughout the Kingdom. The primary role as a Safety Engineer (Loss Prevention Engineer) is to provide daily support to upstream organizations to manage safety in petroleum engineering exploration, drilling, and workover-related activities, including unconventional resources and seismic operations.
Responsibilities:
1.
Facilitating the implementation of the This Company Safety Management System along with its objectives and expectations, including developing associated safety processes and participating in self-assessments.
2. Inspecting onshore and offshore drilling rigs, workover equipment, and other support facilities with in-depth knowledge of well control equipment and procedures obtained through attending Basic Well Control School.
3. Identifying, evaluating, recommending actions, and following up on critical safety tasks and control methodologies related to operational safety practices such as work at height, isolation/LOTO, permit to work, hydrogen sulfide, confined space entry, and excavations.
4. Participating in safety studies and activities using risk assessment and mitigation methodologies such as PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs,
incident investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys.
5. Developing and/or reviewing corporate safety standards, instructions, and procedures related to upstream operations, formalizing them into company-documented practices as required.
6. Reviewing designs of oil and gas field facilities for compliance with company and industry safety standards.
7. Assisting in the development of Emergency Response Plans for credible scenarios with a working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and attending emergency drills as an observer to provide feedback.
8. Responding to emergency situations and incidents, providing technical assistance and advice during or after regular working hours.
9. Supporting the reporting, classification,
and investigation of all incidents, participating in incident investigations to determine root causes and making proper recommendations to prevent recurrence.
10. Delivering Loss Prevention-specific training to employees, contractors, and outside parties.
11. Mentoring other Loss Prevention personnel.
Requirements:
This role requires the candidate to permanently relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
A bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline from an Accredited Institution.
7 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas upstream industry with a strong track record of delivering results.
Experience in various areas including drilling and workover operations, well planning and approval, reservoir management, geology and geophysics, project management for upstream facilities development,
oil and gas field development, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) between upstream and construction/downstream operations, offshore and onshore drilling rig safety inspections, managerial audits/assessments, and safety program and emergency response plans development.
Excellent communication skills in English, capable of effectively communicating with peers and management.
Ability to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.
