New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is a world-class research university with a liberal arts and science college at its core and is one of three global campuses within New York University (New York, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai).
NYUAD opened its doors to its first class in 2010 and is currently entering its second decade within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With approximately 1500 full-time faculty, researchers and administrative staff,
its trajectory and expansion as a premier academic and research enterprise depends upon the recruitment and retention of a highly skilled and world-class workforce from within the UAE and beyond.
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) reports locally to the NYUAD Chief Administrative Business Officer (CABO) as well as NYU’s Vice President for Human Resources (VPHR). The CHRO directs the university’s Human Resources department and is responsible for:
- Developing, recommending, and implementing university-wide employee policies and practices.
- Providing direction, guidance, and implementation support to the campus.
- Creating and delivering the strategic vision of the HR department.
- Resolving HR issues to ensure appropriate resolution.
- Establishing and monitoring service metrics and adjusting HR processes, procedures, and staffing.

- A Bachelor’s degree: a Master’s in Human Resources or a related discipline is preferred.
- 10 years or more senior-level HR management experience within a large academic,
government organization, or non-profit entity.
- Experience in higher education is highly desirable.
- Experience in HR administration in the Middle East, and Arabic or other regional language skills are advantageous.
