Position Overview: A Stainless Steel Fabricator is a skilled professional responsible for transforming raw stainless steel materials into finished products and components used in various industries. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and attention to detail in order to fabricate and assemble stainless steel structures, equipment, and fixtures according to engineering specifications and design drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Stainless Steel Fabrication: Utilize cutting, welding, bending, and other metalworking techniques to shape, cut, and join stainless steel components to create finished products. This includes using various tools and machinery such as plasma cutters, shears, press brakes, and welding equipment.
Reading and Interpreting Drawings: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand project requirements, dimensions, and specifications. Ensure accurate adherence to design plans during the fabrication process.
Material Selection: Identify and select appropriate grades and types of stainless steel based on project requirements, taking into account factors like corrosion resistance, strength, and durability.
Quality Control: Perform thorough inspections of fabricated stainless steel products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Identify and rectify any defects or imperfections that may affect the structural integrity or aesthetics of the finished product.
Assembly and Installation: Assemble and install stainless steel components into larger structures or equipment. Collaborate with other team members to ensure proper fit and alignment.
Maintenance and Repair:
Conduct maintenance and repair work on existing stainless steel structures and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and comply with safety regulations.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
Machine and Equipment Operation: Operate machinery and equipment safely and proficiently to carry out fabrication tasks effectively and efficiently.
Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project managers to provide updates on progress, raise concerns, and collaborate on complex projects.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including materials used, work hours,
and any modifications made during the process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational training in metal fabrication or welding is preferred.
- Proven experience as a stainless steel fabricator or in a related metalworking field.
- Proficiency in various stainless steel fabrication techniques, including cutting, welding, bending, and polishing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Skilled in the operation and maintenance of metalworking machinery and equipment.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision to ensure high-quality finished products.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex fabrication projects.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to metal fabrication.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
