**Responsibilities**
**Setting the Strategic direction**
- Hold the strategic overview for the Key Stage.
- Take an active part in the formation and implementation of the school SEF and SDP in conjunction with the senior leadership team.
- Keep up to date with national and international developments to ensure the best possible curriculum, pastoral support, and wider opportunities.
- Advise the Senior Leadership Team on all matters relating to the Key Stage.
- Play a full part in the life of the school community, to model and support its mission and ethos and to encourage and ensure staff and students follow this example.
- Contribute significantly to the decision-making processes of the school, supporting decisions and sharing corporate responsibility for them regardless of personal inclination.
- Maintain a visible, professional, and high profile within the school.
- Carry out school tours for prospective families as required.
- Support in the delivery of CPD as required.
- Lead on new student induction, supporting Heads of Year.
- Middle school pastoral strategy development and implementation to ensure a positive and well informed transition.
- Lead on the communication strategy, including but not limited to PTCs, PIMs, bi-weekly communication to parents and standardised letters.
***Culture for Behaviour and Learning**
- Work with Heads of Year and form tutors to develop good habits of learning, self-discipline, high attendance, and positive behaviour in students across the key stage.
- Hold the overview of EPOCH and positive education programme across the key stage ensuring timely assessment and program of study.
- Hold the overview of pastoral provision across the key stage and ensure a comprehensive programme of provision is in place for all tutor sessions across the Key Stage.
- Use data effectively to monitor standards across the Key Stage and to plan appropriate interventions as necessary when looking at the whole child, including holding the overview of attendance, punctuality, and behaviour sanctions.
- Model and uphold the culture for learning and behaviour.
- Build partnerships with parents and work with SLT to ensure effect reporting and communication, including quality assurance mechanisms.
- Lead on PTC days, and other key PIMs, including coordinating set up and implementation, working alongside HOYs.
- Lead on student celebrations for achievement of all kinds, and promote the values of the school, through the planned leadership of assemblies across the key stage and year groups.
- Promote the involvement, integration, and inclusion of all students in the Key Stage, particularly students with SEN, identified as Gifted & Talented, in a vulnerable group or with other individual needs.
**Leading and Managing staff**
- Line manage Heads of Year and undertake Performance Management in accordance with school performance management policy.
- Lead and manage Heads of Year in designated Key Stage and Form Tutors for designated year group.
- Work with other Key Stage leaders to ensure consistency across all year groups.
- Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships with year teams, ensuring collaboration, support, accountability, and high professional standards.
- Develop and promote positive working relationships with and between all students and staff in the Key Stage.
- Hold regular meetings with minutes and agendas.
- Ensure that colleagues throughout the school are well informed about policies, procedures, plans and priorities for the Key Stage.
- Liaise with other colleagues as necessary, to ensure the smooth operation of the students transferring into the school.
- Lead on the pastoral monitoring, evaluation, and review for the key stage to ensure high quality provision across all tutor groups and year groups.
- Oversee attendance and punctuality for Key Stage, reporting to SLT as required.
**Managing resources**
- Efficient and effective deployment and control of staff, resources, and budgets where applicable.
