To provide general nursing care and leadership, working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Will promote and restore patient’s health as they plan, provide, delegate, evaluate and coordinate comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and background; provide physical and psycho-social support to patients and their families/friends.**Operations - Ethical Practice**
- Collects information on patient status from a variety of sources using assessment skills including observation, communication, and physical assessment.
- Completes Nursing Time Out Policy on all assigned patients on entry to the Operating Theatre.






- Plans care and instruments needed during the Operating procedure.
- Always ensures maintenance of a sterile field during surgical procedures to include the following: Use of sterile supplies, aseptic technique, surgical scrub, sterile gowning and gloving, standard precautions.
- Initiates prompt nursing interventions bases on changes in the patient condition, age, and circumstances.
- Is adept and knowledgeable with the use of specific equipment used in the Operating Theatre to include the following: General Surgical Instruments, Obstetrics and gynecological Instruments, Ear, Nose and Throat Instruments, Orthopedic Instruments, Urological Instruments, Dental Instruments, Plastic Surgery/Cosmetic Instruments.
- Is a clinical expert within the Operating Theatre
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all patients records according to CS standards and policies.
- Anticipates, recognizes, and manages emergencies, and unsafe situations/practice, and initiates appropriate and timely intervention.






- Influences and facilitates change within the department to improve standards of care.
- Promotes an environment that enables patient/colleague safety, independence, quality of life and health, by utilizing risk awareness and management, incident reporting and adhering to the OHS (environment, health, and safety system) within CS. Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner**Customer Service
- Adhere to the clinic/hospital’s vision, mission, and core values.
- Adhere to the clinic/hospital’s telephone standards.
- Maintains patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Ensures customer satisfaction-oriented environment for patients, family and other customers within Outpatient department.






- Facilitates cooperation and communication between nursing staff, medical staff and all other departments in order to ensure maximum patient and staff satisfaction.

**Business Management**
- Utilizes supplies and equipment effectively to meet the needs of the patients.
- Participates in regular stock inventory each year.
- Practice measures that are cost effective in relation to supplies and other resources.
- Notifies Nurse In-charge / Manager of all important, administrative, and clinical issues involving the OT department.

**Staff Management**
- Prioritizes work schedule to meet the needs of the patients
- Enhances the working environment through teamwork and mutual respect of others.






- Motivates and encourages self and others to achieve team, and organizational goals.
- Act as preceptor for new nursing staff.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills when making judgements, managing conflict and solving patient care problems/issues.
- Demonstrates initiative and confidently contributes to the decision-making process.
- Promote and fosters a no blame culture when dealing with incident reporting.

**Communication**
- Follows the established communication channels in the Nursing department.
- Ensures exchanges of information and ideas among nurses in the OT department are undertaken in an honest, direct and respectful manner.
- Maintains a professional communication manner when dealing with outside agencies and departments including the DHA and the Ministry of Health.






- Ensure a rapid communication system in Notification of Infectious diseases to the OT Nurse Manager / Infection Control Officer.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate feedback to all staff from outside meetings and committees.
- Communicates as required in a timely and constructive manner.
- Ensures all channels of communication: incident reporting, maintenance / IT/ Biomed requests, Time and attendance requirements are adhered to

**Other Responsibilities**
- Facilitates current trends in nursing and utilizes research based practices.
- Identifies health education needs of patient/family and develops health education methods.
- Participate in ongoing in-service training includes mandatory competency tested health,





safety and infection control programs.
- Always demonstrates professional accountability and responsibility.
- Complies with the Nursing Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for CS, Emirates Nursing Association (Emirates Nursing Council), and applicable health authority.
