As a Principal DevOps Engineer in the DevOps Platform team, you will be responsible for driving the Enterprise wide DevOps,
Automation and Cloud strategies, standards and guidelines to ensure service reliability, scalability and performance of Applications of Emirates Group landscape. You will leverage emerging technologies to build self-healing and scalable applications and environments, architecting migration to cloud to improve fault tolerance, reduce failure rates and optimise TCO across the entire infrastructure stack, expanding its monitoring capabilities, and improving overall management of technical operations.
Join our DevOps and Automation team as a key technologist, driving DevOps and automation practices at both the product and program levels. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing our DevOps strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reliability across our technology landscape. In This Role You Will
- Manage, set up, configure, monitor and technology platforms, tools and libraries for enterprise software, in line with the approved technology architecture.
- Champion automation, agile testing practices, lean software development, test driven development, timely root cause analysis and blameless incident post-mortems. Help define and refine the DevOps and Cloud engineering playbooks for use by relevant people in Technology.
- Lead the execution of the DevOps and Tooling adoption to migrate existing system landscape using CI/CD best practices with full zero touch automation and come up with high level design, partnering with cross-functional teams. Drive proof-of-concepts and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
- Lead the discovery phase of Cloud adoption/ migration by partnering with the Architects and Security to strategies well defined DevOps and Cloud engineering architectures and apply Site reliability principles to ensure availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning and act as a bridge between development and operations by applying a engineering mind-set to system administration.
- Act as a lead for service reliability,
scalability and performance for a set of products as part of system enablement team for Agile release trains. Primary lead who identifies and improves the lifecycle of products/services by addressing flow of value through the continuous deployment pipelines.
- Enable the migration of existing on premise services to on-cloud services in collaboration with the hybrid cloud team to achieve cost efficiency, improved quality, a more productive engineering workforce and faster project delivery, by providing landing zones, right platforms and technologies.
- Investigate, debug and fix complex issues involving corner cases and rare conditions. Drive built in quality in engineering teams in collaboration with end to end quality assurance.
- Technical stewardship around Cloud, Infrastructure as Code, Operational deployment and Service reliability.
Use expert knowledge of the technical stack and design principles for the components in the technology area to solve complex business issues. Represent hybrid and public cloud and DevOps Automation in cross business area initiatives.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers on CI/CD and guide them on automating complex cases. Teach and help developers test their code better and influence developers to write tests and review their work.
- Develop tools and practices to improve delivery quality of technology solutions and productivity of engineers. Develop optimal technical design and high-quality code for technology products that passes the QA requirements and is production deployment ready. Carry out functional,
non-functional and performance testing in using appropriate automation tools.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
- 8+ years in DevOps implementation and/or Cloud Computing/Migration (AWS, Azure, VMware, GCP) and Systems Administration (Linux, Windows).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in implementing Gitlab full suite, Sonatype Nexus and other DevSecOps tools (Bitbucket, Jenkins, Spinnaker). Hands on knowledge of build automation and continuous integration/delivery ecosystem: Git, Groovy, Maven/Gradle, Docker, Nexus, Artifactory, Jenkins, Docker, Openshift.
- Extensive Experience in architecture and support best practices in Hybrid cloud environment or Amazon AWS/Azure Cloud/GCP.
- Extensive experience in implementing and incorporating Security tools (Wiz, ShiftLeft, Trivy, Siscan, Yelp secret scanners) in the pipeline. Good knowledge on Automated Security Testingfuzz testing, SAST, DAST, Secret Detection, Dependency scanning, Container scanning, and API security.
- Exceptional knowledge in systems monitoring, alerting and analytics (AppDynamics, Splunk, etc.).
- Experience with infrastructure configuration and automations processes and tools: Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience in deploying and troubleshooting highly available,
secure and reliable services with automatic failover using containers and container-orchestration tools like Kubernetes/Openshift.
- Experience working with automation and CI/CD implementation for micro services architecture. Hands-on experience on designing and building solutions that allow multi cloud environments.
