JOB PURPOSE

Basic Medical Sciences Department at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah invites applications for an open rank faculty position (Assistant or Associate) in Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology . The successful candidate is expected to teach human anatomy for medical students within an integrated, problem-based curriculum. The candidate must have extensive experience in teaching clinical gross anatomy with full-body dissection laboratories. Furthermore,





S/he is expected to develop and conduct research at the Research Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (RIMHS).

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

- Deliver lectures to medical students in human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology in an integrated problem-based learning (PBL) curriculum.
- Teach clinical gross anatomy with full-body dissection laboratories.
- Develop a research program based on their interests and experiences.
- Actively participate in scholarship and professional development within their area of expertise.
- Facilitate weekly small group sessions in the PBL program (Training can be provided).
- Advise undergraduate students.
- Participate actively in departmental assignments, university committees, and student activities.
- Engage in relevant professional activities to improve teaching and subject matter competence.
- Serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
- Participate in other activities as assigned by the Department Chair or the College Dean.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Prospective applicants holding an M.B.B.S degree with a PhD (or equivalent)





in Human Anatomy, excellent record of academic performance, and demonstrated expertise in Human Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have:

- The ability to relate Human Anatomy to clinical scenarios.
- Strong teaching skills and experience supported by evidence of their potential.
- Experience in teaching clinical gross anatomy with full-body dissection laboratories.
- Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.
- A strong record in research and publications.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in higher education institutions, medical/health sciences.
- Experience in Problem-Based Learning is highly desirable.






- Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English).
- Strong interpersonal skills that can foster effective professor-student interactions during both one-on-one (student advising) and group (classroom) sessions.
- A sincere interest in assisting each student within a diverse and multi-cultural community to maximize their academic, spiritual, and personal potential.
- A team player motivated to strengthen and advance the department.
