Background
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) at the British Embassy in Dubai has vacancies for two Trade & Investment Officers to cover seasonal peaks in workload. There will be a focus on a number of the following market sectors: Education & Training Skills; ICT; Creativity; Infrastructure (Mass Construction & Transport); Oil & Gas; Food & Drink, Power & Water, Life Sciences & Finance.
Sectors to be covered will be determined according to experience. There are two positions; both are 8 month fixed term contracts which will run from October 2013 to May 2014.
Based in Dubai, the successful candidates will be line managed by the UKTI Team Coordinator.
Specifically, the role requires support to Trade Advisers and the provision of information to allow UK companies to make an informed decision about whether the UAE is a suitable market for their equipment and/or services and to help facilitate partnerships between the UK and UAE.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting Trade Advisors to ensure that the UKTI team provides first class support to UK companies looking to trade in or with the UAE.
- Carrying out market research on behalf of UK companies. This is a chargeable service and there is an overriding need for accuracy and meeting deadlines agreed with customers. The research will involve meeting companies on the ground in Dubai & the Northern Emirates and promoting the customers' business.
Part of this research will also include researching the press, websites and attending local exhibitions.
- Drafting of Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) reports.
- Organising receptions and other events as required by customers and assisting with Ministerial and official visits.

• Previous experience of working in any of the sectors mentioned or for a trade promotion agency or events planning organisation is also an advantage.
Working Hours and Remuneration:
The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: salary of AED 10,130 per month, inclusive of all allowances,
Band 13; five weeks vacation each year; free on-site parking and free access to on-site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities.
