Our client, a private organization based in Abu Dhabi, is urgently looking for an Arabic Legal Assistant. For this role, you will be primarily responsible for providing support to the Legal Counsel, maintaining and organizing files; conducting legal research and drafting of legal documents.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Investigate the facts of a case
2. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles
3. Organize and present the information of the case
4. Keep information related to cases or transactions in computer databases
5. Write reports to help lawyers prepare for trials
6. Draft correspondence and other documents, such as contracts and mortgages
7.
Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
8. Assist legal counsel/lawyer during trials
9. Prepare for hearings, trials, and corporate meetings
10. Help prepare the legal arguments and draft documents to be filed with the court
11. Review legal material for internal use, maintain reference files, conduct research for lawyers, and collect and organize evidence for hearings
12. Prepare trial documents or draft settlement agreements
13. Draft and index documents and prepare presentations
14. Must be familiar with electronic database management and be up to date on the latest software used for electronic discovery
15. Help lawyers prepare employee contracts, shareholder agreements, stock-option plans, and companies’ annual financial reports
16. Monitor and review government regulations to ensure that the corporation is aware of new legal requirements
17. Maintain documents received from clients, conduct research for lawyers,
and retrieve and organize evidence for use at depositions and trials
18. Conduct criminal and civil lawsuits, draw up legal documents, advise clients as to legal rights, and practice other phases of law
19. Gather evidence in divorce, civil, criminal, and other cases to formulate defense or to initiate legal action
20. Prepare legal briefs, develop strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of case
21. Files brief with court clerk
22. Represents client in court and before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of government
23. Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
24. May draft wills, trusts, transfer of assets, gifts, and other documents
25.
May advise corporate clients concerning transactions of business involving internal affairs, stockholders, directors, officers, and corporate relations with the general public
26. May supervise and coordinate activities of subordinate legal personnel
27. Deal with issues pertaining to business transactions
28. Draft client agreements, negotiate employment contracts or write purchase agreements
29. Review company paperwork, particularly contracts, and draft business documents
30. Research, write and edit commercial reports
31. Examine national, international and local laws to identify any rules they must follow or conflicts that might arise
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree in law preferred or 4 years relevant work experience may be substituted for each of the four years of college
2.
3 to 5 years previous experience in law firms will be an advantage
3. Good organizational skills
Candidates who have worked as a Paralegal or Legal Secretary may also be considered.
