Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8 or 10 hour shifts between 5:00am and 9:30pm, dependent upon need - 40 hours per week.
Occasional overtime.
No Call, No Weekends!
Core Duties RN Duties:
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
2. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost.
3. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
4. Perform physical exams and health assessments.
5. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
6. Administer medications, wound care,
and numerous other personalized nursing services.
7. Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare staff.
8. Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
9. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
10. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family.
11. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as needed.
12. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
Job Specific Details and Tasks:
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Strongly preferred working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE.
2. Skill in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, oxygen analyzers, and other unit-specific equipment, including but not limited to EKG machines and vital sign monitoring.
3.
Possession of basic knowledge of operating a wide variety of medical and non-medical equipment in the unit to ensure patient and staff safety, proper equipment maintenance.
4. Ability to perform/assist with procedures such as pulse oximetry, glucose testing, and other clinic specified tasks.
5. Ensures proper documentation of care.
6. Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift; ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed.
7. Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel.
8. Ensures a safe working environment, employee safe work habits, and patient safety in accordance with regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
1.
Education: BSN
2. Experience: 1) Experience as a PACU Nurse for at least 12 months, which can include having worked full or part-time, and at least 3 years total nursing experience in an intensive care setting or medical-surgical inpatient. 2) Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use, as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations. 3) Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient conditions including disease progress, acknowledgment of teaching, and follow-up.
3. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse.
4. Clinical Certification:
Board Certification in Peri-Anesthesia is highly preferred.
5. Life Support Certifications: Possess current AHA or ARC BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
6. Security: Must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
